My Perfect Family: The Cookie Project

An orange shape for decoration.

Summary

In 2012, Hamilton couple Graeme and Chris adopted their foster daughter Ngā Hou - who was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and other disabilities. After Chris’s tragic death, Graeme struggled to help Ngā Hou - now 17 - find her way towards independence. Seeing her desire to work, he looked for accessible employment where she would be valued and supported. The options were extremely limited. After a chance meeting with entrepreneur, Eric, the pair joined forces and together founded The Cookie Project - a social enterprise employing Ngā Hou and many others who live with disabilities.
